Hockey India Senior Women National Team Announced: Squad to Train in SAI Bangalore Until May 16
The Indian women’s hockey team is gearing up for a series of international challenges as Hockey India announced the 33-member squad that will continue training in SAI Bangalore till May 16. The squad, selected after intense trials held on April 6-7, includes a mix of experienced players and promising youngsters who will be vying for a spot in future coaching camps and international tours.
Among the goalkeepers, Savita, Bichu Devi Kharibam, Bansari Solanki, and Madhuri Kindo have been selected to guard the net. The defensive lineup comprises Nikki Pradhan, Udita, Ishika Chaudhary, Monika, Ropni Kumari, Mahima Chaudhary, Jyoti Chhatri, and Preeti. In the midfield, players like Salima Tete, Marina Lalramnghaki, and Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke will be crucial, while forwards Lalremsiami, Deepika, and Vandana Katariya will lead the attacking charge.
Notably, the squad also includes players who have made a comeback to the national setup after impressive performances in the recent assessment camp. Preeti Dubey, who last played for the Indian Women’s Hockey Team in 2017, has earned a spot in the squad, showcasing her determination and skill.
High Performance Director Herman Kruis expressed his confidence in the new core group, stating, “We now have a promising squad that will feature in the upcoming international tours and FIH Hockey Pro League 2023/24.” The team is set to face tough opponents like Argentina, Belgium, Germany, and Great Britain in the FIH Hockey Pro League later this year, providing them with a platform to showcase their talent on the global stage.
With a blend of experience and youth, the Indian women’s hockey team is poised to make a mark in the upcoming competitions and continue their journey towards achieving greater heights in the sport.
