Manchester United Fans Mock Jurgen Klopp After Old Trafford Draw

Manchester United supporters mocked Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp after the Old Trafford draw which saw Klopp’s team lose hold of top spot in the Premier League title race. The draw meant Liverpool missed the chance to return to the summit of the Premier League after only drawing with United. The home side didn’t register a single shot before half-time, but came from behind to lead 2-1 before Mohamed Salah levelled things up late on.

As Klopp and a number of players from both sides left the field, there were chants of “he’s cracking up, he’s cracking up, he’s cracking, Jurgen’s cracking up” from the home end. After initially appearing to ignore the chants, the German is seen cupping his ear to the crowd.

The chant, to the tune of the refrain from ‘Three Lions’, evokes a similar chant aimed at Klopp’s predecessor Rafa Benitez. Back in the 2008-09 season, Liverpool led the league in January and kept pace with United for much of the campaign, but ultimately finished four points adrift of Sir Alex Ferguson’s team.

Liverpool are in no danger of finishing behind United this season, with Sunday’s results meaning their rivals are mathematically unable to catch them. Some 22 points separate the sides with seven league games remaining, with United also more than 10 points behind fifth-placed Aston Villa.

Fans of Erik ten Hag’s side still took pride in potentially denying Liverpool the title, though. Klopp’s team sit in second after the weekend’s action, a point clear of Manchester City but behind Arsenal on goal difference.

Klopp indicated he felt United put in extra effort for games against his side but rejected the suggestion it was two points dropped for the Merseyside club. He emphasized the importance of being ready for tough away games like the one against United.
