Young Kiteboarder Proud of Sixth-Place Finish in Spain

The 25-year-old kiteboarder from Weymouth, England, put on a strong performance at the recent event in Mar Menor, Spain, finishing in sixth place. Despite narrowly missing out on matching her fourth-place finish from last year, she expressed her pride in her sailing throughout the challenging week.

Facing tough competition from a strong French team, the kiteboarder acknowledged the high level of competition, especially as it was the French team’s Olympic trials. Despite the tough conditions and the French girls’ impressive speeds, she managed to defend her position and secure a respectable sixth-place finish.

Coming off a six-month training block, the young athlete was focused on honing her skills and tactics in preparation for the upcoming World Championships. She highlighted the importance of racing against a large fleet to practice key skills and improve her performance.

Young was joined by two other British boats in the top 10, with Ellie Aldridge finishing fifth and Katie Dabson in ninth place. The British contingent showed determination and hunger for more success, with Dabson expressing a desire to close the gap on the dominant French team.
