Football world mourns the passing of legendary player and manager Joe Kinnear

Legendary football player and manager Joe Kinnear has passed away at the age of X after battling dementia since 2015. The Dublin-born Kinnear had an illustrious career, winning the FA Cup, League Cup, and UEFA Cup as a player with Tottenham before going on to manage clubs like Luton, Nottingham Forest, and Newcastle.

AFC Wimbledon, where Kinnear served as manager, paid tribute to him as a “true legend of the club” and expressed their deep sadness at his passing. Tottenham also mourned the loss of Kinnear, with manager Ange Postecoglou describing him as a player and manager who will be remembered forever at the club.

Kinnear’s impact on English football was also acknowledged by the English Football League, Newcastle, Luton, and the Football Association of Ireland, all of whom offered their condolences to his family and friends.

During his time at Wimbledon, Kinnear led the club to a sixth-placed finish in the top flight and guided them to the semi-finals of both the FA Cup and League Cup. Former Wimbledon forward Marcus Gayle praised Kinnear for fostering a strong team spirit and competitiveness during his tenure.
