Join the Cambridge Rowing Club and Discover the Benefits of Rowing
The Cambridge Rowing Club is on a mission to increase the popularity of the sport in the city by offering programs for all ages and skill levels. With a successful open house event held on Saturday at Riverbluffs Park, the club is eager to attract more residents to the water.
Founded in 1987, the club has grown over the years, providing hands-on training from experienced coaches. Ron Dowhaniuk, chair of the Cambridge Rowing Club, highlighted the various programs available, from Learn to Row to competitive racing, catering to different skill levels and ages.
Dowhaniuk emphasized the numerous benefits of rowing, including physical fitness, mental wellbeing, teamwork, and camaraderie. He expressed his love for the sport’s unique combination of challenges and the sense of community it fosters among rowers.
One eager participant, Anne Myerscough, expressed her excitement about trying rowing for the first time. With a background in various physical activities, she is looking forward to building her overall strength and making new friends through the sport.
For those hesitant about trying rowing, Dowhaniuk reassured them that the Learn to Row program is designed for beginners, offering a supportive and inclusive environment to learn at their own pace. The program includes eight lessons and a season’s membership with all equipment provided.
With the Learn to Row program priced at $200 for high school students and $400 for other age groups, the Cambridge Rowing Club is making it accessible for all interested individuals.
