Rohit Sharma reflects on India’s heartbreaking loss in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final

In a candid conversation on ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’, Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma opened up about India’s heartbreaking loss against Australia in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final. Despite the defeat, Rohit was pleasantly surprised by the overwhelming support and appreciation from fans.

Reflecting on the title clash, Rohit revealed the team’s confidence after a 10-match winning streak, feeling almost on “autopilot” mode. He recalled the early partnership with Virat Kohli and their belief in achieving a good score. However, Australia’s resilient performance ultimately led to India falling short in the final.

Expressing his initial fears of disappointment, Rohit shared, “I was thinking that the World Cup took place in our country but still we could not win. I felt the nation might be angry with us. But I only heard people praising how well we played, and how they enjoyed watching that cricket.”

Despite the loss, Rohit’s leadership and stellar performances from players like Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer received widespread acclaim. The defeat may have left a bitter taste, but Rohit’s gratitude for the fans’ unwavering support serves as a testament to India’s cricketing spirit.

The Indian cricket team may have missed out on the World Cup trophy, but their journey and the support they received from fans will be remembered for years to come.
