Williamstown Tennis Dominates Lincoln in Home Match

In a dominating display of skill and teamwork, the Williamstown Yellowjackets tennis team swept Lincoln in a home match on Saturday afternoon. The boys team shut out Lincoln 7-0, while the girls team secured a 6-1 victory.

The boys team did not drop a single game in any of their sets, with Austin Bosgraf, Brady Woodard, Tyler Fenton, and Brandon Gray all winning their singles matches 8-0. The doubles teams of Bosgraf and Fenton, Woodard and Gray, as well as Gavin Hill and Connor Erb, also secured victories without dropping a game.

On the girls side, Claire Strobl, Akhia Miller, Athenn Stewart, and Gabi Holl all contributed flawless singles wins, with Strobl and Miller teaming up for an 8-0 doubles win. The only set Lincoln managed to win was in the third doubles match, where Danica Gherke and Marissa Barajas defeated Stewart and Ashtyn McIntyre by default.

Yellowjackets head coach Diana Leo praised her team’s performance, highlighting their power and teamwork on the court. The team’s next matches are against Wood County Christian on Monday and George Washington on Tuesday.

The upcoming rematch against George Washington will be a chance for the Yellowjackets to avenge their previous loss, with Leo confident that the team will show up stronger with the return of some key players.
