Texas Rowing Dominates San Diego Crew Classic, Advances Four Boats to Grand Finals
The Texas Rowing team kicked off their season in impressive fashion at the San Diego Crew Classic, winning three out of four races and advancing four boats to the grand finals. Head coach Dave O’Neill expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, noting that there is still room for improvement as the season progresses.
The Longhorns’ I Eight boat set the tone for the day with a victory in the Jessop-Whittier Cup Invitational, finishing ahead of California and Notre Dame. The Women’s Collegiate Varsity 4+ also dominated their heat, posting the fastest time of the session. The II Eight boat continued the winning streak by claiming victory in the Jackie Ann Stitt Hungness Trophy heats.
Despite a runner-up finish in the Carley Copley Cup by the Open Eight, the Longhorns showcased their strength and depth across multiple events. With the fastest times in several races, Texas is poised to make a strong showing in the finals on Sunday.
