Florida Gators Baseball Faces Missouri in Search of Fourth SEC Series Victory
The Florida Gators baseball team is gearing up for a weekend showdown against the Missouri Tigers in Columbia. The Gators, ranked No. 6, are looking to secure their fourth SEC series victory of the season as they take on the Tigers, who currently hold a 12-18 record.
Florida has historically dominated Missouri, boasting a 31-5 all-time record against them. The Gators have been performing well in conference play, with a 17-11 overall record and a 6-3 record in the SEC. They are currently two games behind Kentucky in the SEC East standings.
On the other hand, Missouri has struggled in conference play, sitting at 1-8 in the SEC and last place in the East. Their only conference win came against Kentucky on March 23.
Both teams are coming off midweek wins, with Florida defeating Florida A&M and Missouri sweeping UT Martin. The Gators showcased their offensive prowess with five home runs in their midweek game, including a massive 491-foot bomb from Jac Caglianone.
The pitching matchups for the weekend series will feature Brandon Neely and Liam Peterson for Florida, while Logan Lunceford and Javyn Pimental will take the mound for Missouri. Neely and Peterson have been solid starters for the Gators, with freshman Luke McNeillie earning SEC Freshman of the Week honors for his relief performance last weekend.
The series kicks off on Friday at 7 p.m. and will be broadcasted on SEC Network+ and ESPN 98.1-FM/850-AM WRUF. Florida will look to continue their winning ways and extend their dominance over Missouri in what promises to be an exciting weekend of SEC baseball.
