Clemson Tigers Finish Strong in NCAA Gainesville Regional, Rebecca Wells Shines
In a thrilling NCAA Gainesville Regional competition, the Clemson Tigers put on a show in their inaugural team season, but ultimately fell short to Iowa State with a final score of 195.625 to 195.875. Despite the loss, the Tigers had a season to remember, finishing second in the conference, earning an ACC Coach of the Year honors, and making their first NCAA Tournament appearance.
The Tigers started strong on vault, with Rebecca Wells leading the rotation with a solid 9.825. Molly Arnold, Lauren Rutherford, and Trinity Brown also delivered strong performances, helping Clemson secure a team total of 49.200 and the lead after the first rotation.
However, the Tigers seemed to struggle on bars in the second rotation, with Kaitlin DeGuzman shining with a high score of 9.900. Despite some setbacks, the team managed to stay competitive with a team total of 48.375 through two rotations.
Rebecca Wells continued to impress on beam, scoring a 9.900 to lead Clemson in the third rotation. With solid performances from Quinn Kuhl, Brie Clark, Sierra Church, and Kielyn McCright, the Tigers held a 146.550 team score heading into the final rotation.
On floor, Lauren Rutherford, Lilly Lippeatt, and Eve Jackson tied for the highest score for the Tigers with 9.825 each. Brie Clark and Rebecca Wells also delivered strong performances, helping Clemson finish with a team total of 49.075 and a final score of 195.625.
Despite the loss, Rebecca Wells, Molly Arnold, Kielyn McCright, and Brie Clark will continue to compete in the NCAA Gainesville Regional, showcasing the talent and determination of the Clemson Tigers.
