9th Region Basketball Seniors Make College Commitments; All “A” Classic Baseball Semifinals Rescheduled

In a thrilling turn of events, Cooper High School’s power forward Shaun Pouncy has made a groundbreaking decision that has sent shockwaves through the 9th Region boys basketball community. Pouncy, who was recently named first-team all-region after an impressive season, has officially committed to Thomas More University on a scholarship offer.

Pouncy’s exceptional performance on the court this season has not gone unnoticed. Averaging 14.8 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, Pouncy’s shooting accuracy of 68.9 percent from the field has placed him third in statewide statistics. His contributions were instrumental in leading Cooper to the 9th Region championship game, where he was also recognized as part of the all-tournament team.

While Pouncy’s commitment to Thomas More University marks a significant milestone in his basketball career, he is not the only standout senior in the region. Covington Catholic’s Caden Miller and Highlands’ Nathan Vinson, both seniors and key players in their respective teams, were voted as the 9th Region Players of the Year by the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches.

Miller, a dominant force on the court with an average of 15.3 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, reportedly had offers from several college programs, including Missouri and Eastern Kentucky. Vinson, known for his scoring prowess with an average of 17.8 points and 5.6 rebounds, is being recruited by Mount St. Joseph and Centre.

Additionally, Villa Madonna’s Henry Thole, a standout center with impressive stats, has garnered interest from Centre College. With an average of 17.8 points and 15.4 rebounds per game, Thole was voted Division III Player of the Year by local coaches and holds the third-highest rebounding average in Kentucky high school basketball.

As the basketball season comes to a close, the commitment of these talented seniors to their respective college programs sets the stage for an exciting future in collegiate basketball. Fans eagerly await the next chapter in their basketball journey as they continue to make waves in the sport.
