Sebastian Vettel open to potential Formula 1 return: “I feel young compared to others”

Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel has hinted at a potential return to Formula 1, stating that he still feels young enough to compete at the highest level. The 36-year-old German driver retired at the end of the 2022 season after a challenging stint with Aston Martin, but with several seats available on the grid for next year, Vettel is considering a comeback.

In an interview with Radio X in the UK, Vettel expressed his interest in returning to the sport if the right opportunity presents itself. He emphasized the importance of having a competitive car and team to make a successful return to Formula 1.

Despite his age, Vettel feels fit and believes he could continue racing for another decade, especially seeing drivers like Fernando Alonso racing into their 40s. With Lewis Hamilton leaving Mercedes for Ferrari next season, a seat at the Silver Arrows is highly coveted, and Vettel has not ruled out the possibility of driving for the team.

Vettel has also been in talks with Mercedes boss Toto Wolff about the current situation in Formula 1, but no concrete offers have been made yet. The German driver is keeping his options open and staying in touch with various teams in the paddock.

However, Vettel acknowledges that a return to racing would mean spending more time away from his family, a factor he considers when making decisions about his future. His children have expressed their preference for him to stay retired, but ultimately, the decision will be a family discussion.

In the meantime, Vettel recently tested a Porsche 963 hypercar at Motorland Aragon, sparking rumors of a potential Le Mans outing with the German manufacturer. While Vettel found the experience exciting, he believes a Le Mans drive this year is not realistic. Nonetheless, Vettel’s interest in endurance events remains, showcasing his passion for different forms of motorsport.
