Former golf star Anthony Kim has finally broken his silence on his 12-year absence from the sport, revealing that he was surrounded by “scammers” and “snakes” during that time. The 38-year-old recently made his professional return to the course, finishing last in the Saudi-backed league’s third event of the season.

Kim, who reached a career-high ranking of No.6 in the world and was a key player in the 2008 Ryder Cup team, had been plagued by injuries to his spine, shoulder, and hand before disappearing from the public eye. In a candid interview with LIV, Kim admitted that he had been taken advantage of by people he trusted and had shut out most of his inner circle during his time away from the sport.

The former golf star revealed that at one point, he was living with six dogs and two monkeys and spent his days binge-watching reality TV, completely disconnected from the world of golf. Despite his struggles, Kim emphasized that golf still held importance to him and that he had experienced some very dark moments during his hiatus.

Reports suggest that Kim had cashed in on an insurance policy worth £8 million ($10m), which would have been void if he returned to professional golf. However, LIV reportedly covered that sum to sign him, allowing Kim to make his comeback to the sport he loves.
