The 2024 Gemini Boat Race: Oxford vs Cambridge on the River Thames

The highly anticipated 2024 Gemini Boat Race is set to take place on the River Thames in London on Saturday, March 30th. The event will feature both the men’s and women’s races, with Oxford and Cambridge universities going head to head in a fierce battle for supremacy.

Last year, Cambridge emerged victorious in both the men’s and women’s races, and they will be looking to defend their titles this year. However, Oxford will be determined to reclaim the trophies and prove that they are the superior team on the water.

The course for the race is four miles and 374 yards long, stretching between Putney and Mortlake. The race is rowed upstream and timed to start on the incoming “flood” tide, with the men’s race beginning 90 minutes before high tide and the women’s race an hour before that to take advantage of the fastest possible current.

In the men’s race, Oxford will be represented by a strong crew including Jelmer Bennema, Harry Glenister, and Saxon Stacey, while Cambridge will field a competitive team led by Sebastian Benzecry and Noam Mouelle. In the women’s race, Oxford’s crew features Lucy Edmunds and Ella Stadler, while Cambridge’s team includes Gemma King and Joanna Matthews.

With live coverage of the event available on BBC One, iPlayer, and the BBC Sport website, fans from around the world will be able to witness the excitement and drama of one of the most prestigious events in the world of rowing. Don’t miss out on the action as Oxford and Cambridge battle it out on the historic River Thames.
