Mark Selby threatens retirement if form doesn’t improve after World Championship

Mark Selby has issued a stark warning to the snooker world – improve or retire. The four-time world champion has been struggling to find his form this season, culminating in a disappointing exit from the Tour Championship at the hands of Gary Wilson.

Selby, who famously thrashed Ronnie O’Sullivan 6-0 at the Players Championship just weeks ago, was left frustrated and dejected after his loss to Wilson. In a post-match interview, he made it clear that if his performances don’t improve by the upcoming World Snooker Championship, he will seriously consider hanging up his cue for good.

The 40-year-old described his performance against Wilson as “pathetic” and one of the worst games he’s ever played as a professional. He admitted that if he continues to play in the same vein, he won’t enjoy the game anymore and will have no hesitation in retiring.

Wilson, on the other hand, acknowledged that he was lucky to come away with the win, as he too was not happy with his own performance. Despite the victory, he expressed his disappointment in his own play and vowed to work on his cueing ahead of his quarter-final match against Zhang Anda.
