English amateur Kris Kim impresses at The CJ Cup Byron Nelson, Jake Knapp leads after second round 64

English amateur Kris Kim made history at The CJ Cup Byron Nelson by becoming the youngest player to make the cut on the PGA Tour in over a decade. The 16-year-old impressed with a second-round 67, which included five birdies and one bogey, to secure his spot for the weekend.

Kim, the son of former LPGA player Ji-Hyun Suh, expressed his excitement about continuing to compete at such a high level. He credited his performance to his enjoyment of the tournament and the support from the fans.

In addition to Kim’s remarkable achievement, the leaderboard saw some shifts as Jake Knapp took the lead with a second-round 64, putting him one stroke ahead of the competition. Matt Wallace, who was the overnight leader, fell back to equal-second alongside Troy Merritt, who surged up the leaderboard with a stellar round of 62.

Unfortunately, World No 20 Jordan Spieth missed the cut by two strokes, finishing on four under par. Spieth’s round was eventful as his tee shot at the 16th hit a spectator’s elbow before landing on the fairway.

Fans can catch all the action from The CJ Cup Byron Nelson on Saturday on Sky Sports Golf, with early coverage starting at 1pm and full coverage at 6pm. The tournament promises to deliver more excitement and surprises as the players battle it out for the title.
