Lobo Men’s Golf Team Headed to NCAA Regionals in West Lafayette
The Lobo men’s golf team is gearing up for another shot at NCAA regionals as they were selected as the No. 4 seed for the West Lafayette regional at Purdue University. This will mark the 31st regional appearance for UNM under the current format, with teams like Vanderbilt, Arizona, and Florida also vying for a spot in the national championship tournament.
Senior golfer Albert Boneta expressed the high stakes of the tournament, stating, “Going to the NCAA championship only depends on that, so it’s all or nothing so that’s what’s exciting about it.” The Lobos, ranked No. 23 in the country, have had a successful season with nine top-five finishes and will need to bring their A-game to advance to the next round.
Head coach Jake Harrington is looking forward to the challenge that the Purdue course presents, as it is known for being one of the more difficult courses among this year’s regional locations. Harrington’s previous experience at the course during his time coaching at Little Rock gives him confidence in his team’s abilities to compete against the best.
The West Lafayette Regional is set to take place from May 13-15, and the Lobos are ready to showcase their skills and determination on the course.
