Formula 1 Returns to the United States with Miami Grand Prix

Formula 1 is back in the United States with the highly anticipated Miami Grand Prix taking center stage this weekend. The race marks the return of F1 to American soil after a six-month hiatus, and all eyes are on Miami as the first of three events in what has traditionally been NASCAR country.

Despite concerns about soft ticket sales, Tyler Epp, president of the Miami Grand Prix, remains optimistic about the event’s future. Epp believes that Miami’s unique offerings set it apart from other F1 races in the U.S., such as Las Vegas and Austin, and that the city’s vibrant culture will continue to attract fans.

The improvements made to the Miami circuit have not gone unnoticed by teams and drivers. The 3.361-mile track, located in the parking lot of Hard Rock Stadium, has undergone significant upgrades, including the resurfacing of the entire track and the addition of pedestrian bridges to improve foot traffic.

Seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton dismissed suggestions that the addition of Las Vegas to the F1 calendar has diminished Miami’s status as a premier event. Hamilton believes that F1 has gained more awareness in the U.S. and has become a part of the country’s culture.

Meanwhile, rumors swirl about potential departures from Red Bull following allegations of misconduct by team principal Christian Horner. McLaren boss Zak Brown expects more employees to leave the organization in the wake of the controversy, with chief technical officer Adrian Newey already announcing his departure in 2025.

As the 2025 season approaches, drivers like Carlos Sainz Jr. are still weighing their options for the future. Sainz denied reports that he turned down an offer from Audi and emphasized the importance of making the right decision for his career.

With Mercedes needing to replace Hamilton and uncertainty surrounding Max Verstappen’s future at Red Bull, the driver market in F1 is heating up. As the Miami Grand Prix kicks off this weekend, all eyes will be on the track to see who will come out on top in this highly anticipated race.
