Cornelia Oosthuizen Claims Runner-Up Spot in Doubles Event in Antalya, Turkey
Cornelia Oosthuizen may have fallen short in the doubles final in Antalya, Turkey, but she put up a strong fight alongside her partner Maria Florencia Moreno. The Brit and Argentine duo, who were the second seeds in the tournament, made it all the way to the final before facing off against the unseeded French pair of Ksenia Chasteau and Pauline Deroulede.
Despite their best efforts, Oosthuizen and Florencia Moreno were outplayed from the start by the French pair. Chasteau and Deroulede dominated the match, only dropping one game throughout the entire final. The Brit and Argentine had to settle for the runner-up spot as the French pair claimed the title in straight sets with a scoreline of 6-0, 6-1.
Although Oosthuizen couldn’t secure the doubles title, she still had a strong showing in the singles event. In the wheelchair tennis round, Oosthuizen faced off against her doubles partner Florencia Moreno in the second round. Unfortunately, Oosthuizen was defeated by Florencia Moreno in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-0.
Florencia Moreno went on to claim the singles title, defeating Pauline Deroulede in the final with a score of 6-3, 6-4. Despite the disappointment in the doubles final, Oosthuizen can take pride in her performance in both the doubles and singles events in Antalya. The Brit continues to show her talent on the court and will no doubt be a force to be reckoned with in future tournaments.
