Marcus Greene Commits to Play for Hawaii Men’s Basketball Team for Final Year of College Eligibility
The Hawaii men’s basketball team has found a new addition in Marcus Greene, a former standout guard from Houston Christian University. Greene, who led his team in total points and was second in scoring average in the 2023-24 season, has committed to play for the Rainbow Warriors for his final year of college eligibility in 2024-25.
The 6-foot-2 guard from Gilroy, Calif., entered the transfer portal after HCU finished its season with a 6-23 record and quickly caught the attention of Hawaii. Greene was impressed by the opportunity to showcase his skills and make an impact in his last year of college basketball.
With Hawaii losing four of its five starters and top six scorers from last season, Greene’s scoring ability and efficiency on the court will be a valuable asset to the team. Despite playing for a struggling HCU program, Greene maintained a positive mindset and continued to work diligently on his game throughout the season.
Greene, who previously played at Sacramento State and Panola College before transferring to HCU, is excited about the chance to compete at the Division I level once again. He is focused on making the most of his opportunity at Hawaii and is determined to help the team succeed.
In addition to the basketball opportunity, Greene is also being offered Name, Image, and Likeness compensation to play at UH. However, his main priority is to have a successful season that could open doors for his future in professional basketball.
With Greene’s commitment, Hawaii now has five scholarships remaining to assign for next season. The addition of Greene, along with other talented recruits, has the potential to make the Rainbow Warriors a competitive force in the upcoming season.
