Kaucana Sailing Club Athletes Shine in Youth European Championships
The Kaucana Sailing Club continues to make waves in the sailing world, with their young athletes showcasing their talent on both national and international stages. The recent Youth European Championships in Izola, Slovenia saw four promising sailors from the CVK Ilca class compete against 407 participants from 38 different nations.
Despite challenging conditions, the young athletes managed to secure impressive results. Paolo Salvo and Gilda Nasti clinched gold medals, with Salvo finishing twenty-second overall and Nasti placing sixteenth in the women’s under-16 category. In the Silver fleet, Lucrezia Micieli and Gianmarco Livoti also put up strong performances, finishing twelfth in their respective categories.
This success is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the athletes and their coach, Giovanni Magliulo. The Kaucana Sailing Club, which has been steadily growing in recent years, is now making its mark on the international sailing scene with the Ilca class.
But the club’s success doesn’t stop there. The younger sailors in the Optimist class have also been making a name for themselves, with impressive performances in a recent zonal race in Mondello. Andrea Bellio, Alessandro Battaglia, and Annamaria Galofaro all finished in the top ten, with Galofaro even receiving a trophy for her achievements.
