Mayfield Progresses Comfortably in BARLA National Cup

Mayfield Rugby League Club made a strong statement in the BARLA National Cup as they comfortably progressed to the second round with a dominant display against Lowca. The Cumbrians knew they were facing an uphill battle against the powerhouse Mayfield team, but they were determined to make the most of their day out.

From the opening whistle, Mayfield asserted their dominance and never looked back. Tries came in abundance, with McDaid, Butterworth, Mills, Parr, and Wood all getting on the scoresheet. Parr’s accurate kicking added to the tally, as he converted seven of the eleven tries for a personal haul of 22 points.

The forwards laid a solid foundation for Mayfield, with Connolly and Mills leading the charge. The backs also shone, with Long, Wright, Parr, and Butterworth showcasing their skills. The team executed their game plan to perfection, with many of the tries coming from well-rehearsed moves in training.

While the focus remains on the league campaign, a successful cup run is always a morale booster for any club. Mayfield’s second-round matchup against Mirfield promises to be another exciting challenge for the team.

In addition to the first team’s success, the NWML team also notched up a convincing win against Roose Pioneers. Kershaw’s brace of tries and a solid team performance propelled them to the top of the table, much to the delight of coach Andy Reed.
