DJ LeMahieu, the veteran infielder for the New York Yankees, is inching closer to resuming baseball activities after being shut down for at least a week due to a non-displaced foot fracture. The 35-year-old had started a rehab assignment on April 23 but was removed after just one inning due to soreness in his right foot. An MRI exam later revealed recurring swelling, delaying his return to the field.

Manager Aaron Boone provided an update on LeMahieu’s progress, stating that he is feeling great and could soon start baseball activities again. Once he does, Boone indicated that LeMahieu would not have to start from scratch and could potentially begin a rehab assignment shortly after.

Meanwhile, Gleyber Torres, who has been struggling offensively with zero home runs in his first 32 games, has shown signs of improvement recently, batting .286 over his last eight games.
