Golfers Tee Off for Charity at UK Team Competition
Teams from across the UK gathered at the stunning International Course on Wednesday, April 24, for a day of friendly competition and charity fundraising. A total of 26 teams, each consisting of four players from 20 different clubs, took part in the event, playing off 85 per cent of their individual handicaps in a team format.
The top team of the day was comprised of Brian Leggott, Arthur Collingwood, Mick Lewis, and Steve Peacock from The Vale Golf Club, who scored an impressive 82 points. Close behind them was the Brickhampton Golf Club team, made up of Ian Castle, Barrie Evans, Chris Gardner, and Mike Brown, who amassed 80 points. Rounding out the top three were Erle Andrews, David Kent, Ian Macrae, and Andy Vale from Worcester Golf Club/The Vale with 79 points.
Denis Husband of Ullesthorpe Golf Club stood out during the event, winning the Nearest the Pin title and scoring a two on the fifth hole. A raffle was also held throughout the day, raising an impressive £515 for Parkinson’s UK.
Following the success of their first Open, Vale Golf Club Seniors, catering to players aged 55 and above with limited handicaps, have a series of upcoming events planned on the International Course. These include the Seniors Individual Open on May 22, the Seniors Pairs Open Stableford Better Ball on July 3, and the Seniors AM/AM Team Open on September 18.
In other golfing news, David Hamilton emerged victorious in the battle for the Kirkpatrick Cup on April 29, scoring 43 points. Notable performances also came from Peter Azizi, Brian Brumhead, Duilio Perla, Ian Cutler, Neil Thomson, Colin Bartlett, Alan Watson, and Martin Foley in their respective divisions.
