Rocori School District to Add Girls’ Gymnastics Team in 2024-2025 School Year
In an exciting development for the Rocori School district, a new winter sport may be on the horizon. The school board voted at Monday’s meeting to enter into a cooperative sports agreement with Albany to join their girls’ gymnastics team in the 2024-2025 school year.
Superintendent Kevin Enerson shared that there are seven students interested in participating in gymnastics, despite the estimated activity fee of $600 to $800 for the student and an additional expense of $1,800 to $2,000 per participant for the district. Enerson emphasized the importance of supporting students in pursuing their interests, even if it comes with higher costs compared to other sports like hockey or skiing.
Families will also need to provide their own transportation to practices and games, adding to the commitment required for this new sport. The next step in the process is for the Albany school board to approve the agreement, with Activities Director Scott Buntje currently working on gathering the necessary information.
If Albany gives the green light, the cooperative team will need approval from the school’s conference members and region before becoming official. Holdingford is already part of the cooperative team, and Swanville’s school board has also approved the agreement to join.
This exciting development showcases the dedication of both the Rocori School district and Albany to provide diverse opportunities for student athletes. Stay tuned for more updates on this new venture in the world of high school sports.
