Ruturaj Gaikwad’s Toss Woes Continue as Punjab Kings Outclass CSK in IPL Clash
In a streak that seems to be never-ending, Ruturaj Gaikwad, the new skipper of Chennai Super Kings, is having a tough time winning coin tosses in the ongoing Indian Premier League season. In the match against Punjab Kings on Wednesday, Ruturaj lost his ninth toss out of 10 matches, which ultimately proved to be advantageous for the opposition.
Despite losing the toss and being put into bat, CSK could only manage a total of 162 runs, which Punjab Kings chased down comfortably with 13 balls to spare. Ruturaj Gaikwad, in a post-match presentation, admitted that his team was around 50-60 runs short and the dew factor later on made it even more challenging to defend the total.
The young skipper also expressed his frustration at not being able to control the toss results, stating that he feels the pressure when going out for the toss and has even been practicing them during training sessions. Ruturaj acknowledged that his team needs to bat better in the first innings to put up competitive totals on the board.
With 5 wins and 5 defeats in 10 matches, Chennai Super Kings currently hold the fourth spot on the points table, while Punjab Kings, with 4 wins in 10 outings, are placed at the 7th spot. As the tournament progresses, Ruturaj Gaikwad will be hoping for a change in fortunes when it comes to winning tosses and leading his team to more victories on the field.
