Tiger Woods’ Masters Week Recap and Daughter’s Non-Golf Relationship
Tiger Woods’ week at the Masters last month may not have been his best performance on the course, but it was certainly memorable for a different reason. While Woods finished in last place among those who made it to the weekend and posted his highest 72-hole score of his professional career, it was his handshake with a tree on the 16th hole that stole the show.
During an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Woods was asked about his handshake with longtime broadcaster Verne Lundquist, who retired after calling the Masters this spring. The photos shown to Woods from the handshake were truly incredible, capturing a special moment between the two.
Lundquist, who called his first Masters in 1983, bid farewell to his broadcasting career after this year’s tournament with an emotional signoff. As Woods passed Lundquist during his final round, he made sure to stop by and pay his respects, giving fans a remarkable view of the interaction.
In a separate interview on the “Today” show, Woods opened up about his daughter Sam’s lack of interest in golf. He explained that Sam has a negative connotation to the game because it took him away from her when she was growing up. Despite not playing golf herself, Sam caddied for her dad at the PNC Championship last December and has a strong non-golf relationship with him.
Looking ahead, Woods is focused on playing about one Tour event each month, with the PGA Championship at Valhalla in Kentucky on his radar. Despite feeling sore after the Masters, Woods is determined to compete in the upcoming majors and continue his comeback in the world of golf.
