Tiger Woods Opens Up About Daughter’s Disinterest in Golf on the “Today” Show
Tiger Woods, the legendary golfer, recently opened up about his daughter Sam’s disinterest in golf due to the game “taking daddy away” during her childhood. In an interview on the “Today” show, Woods shared that his 16-year-old daughter has a negative association with golf because of the time he spent away from her while pursuing his career.
Woods explained that he and Sam have developed a strong bond outside of golf, engaging in activities that don’t involve the sport. On the other hand, Woods and his 15-year-old son Charlie share a deep connection through their mutual love for golf, participating in golf-related activities together.
Despite Sam’s reluctance to play golf, she caddied for her father and brother at the PNC Championship last December, showcasing her support for their passion for the sport. Meanwhile, Charlie is following in his father’s footsteps, receiving guidance and tips from Woods to improve his game.
During the interview, Woods also mentioned that Charlie, like any teenager, sometimes pushes back against his advice, as he navigates his own path in the world of golf. While Charlie recently participated in a U.S. Open qualifier without advancing, he continues to hone his skills with his father’s support.
Woods, who shares Sam and Charlie with his ex-wife Elin Nordegren, emphasized the importance of family bonding at sporting events, recalling heartwarming moments shared with his children at various tournaments. Despite Sam’s aversion to golf, the Woods family remains united in their love and support for each other.
