The countdown to the much-awaited 2024 T20 Cricket World Cup has begun, with just a month left for the opening match between first-time participants Canada and the U.S. The series will kick off in Dallas on June 1, marking the U.S.’s debut as a co-host in an International Cricket Council tournament.
Preparations for the tournament are in full swing in the U.S., with the 34,000-seat modular stadium in Long Island, New York, nearing completion. The Nassau County Cricket Stadium received ten pitches prepared in Florida this week, as announced by the ICC on Wednesday.
Teams from various countries, including India, Australia, South Africa, and defending champions England, have started announcing their squads for the upcoming matches. India, led by Rohit Sharma, has revealed its 15-member squad for the tournament.
Tickets for the 2024 T20 World Cup are available on a first-come-first-serve basis on the tournament website. Hospitality and premium packages are also being offered by the ICC for interested fans.
Matches will be played across nine cities, with the opening match in Dallas and the grand finale in Barbados. New York City will host the highly anticipated clash between Pakistan and India on June 9. The tournament will also see the debut of U.S., Canada, and Uganda in a Men’s T20 World Cup.
As excitement builds for the tournament, the ICC has announced Usain Bolt and Yuvraj Singh as ambassadors for the T20 World Cup 2024. Tournament director Fawwaz Baksh expressed confidence in putting up a great show, promising a carnival-like atmosphere both on and off the field.
