Inspire Cycling Empowers Women Cyclists in Roaring Fork Valley: A Community of Camaraderie and Inclusivity
Inspire Cycling, a women’s cycling nonprofit based in the Roaring Fork Valley, is gearing up for another exciting season of group rides and camaraderie. Founded in 2022 by professional bike fitter Vega Brhely, the organization aims to provide a welcoming space for women of all skill levels to come together and enjoy the sport of cycling.
With a focus on inclusivity and support, Inspire Cycling has quickly grown in popularity since its inception. What started with just 80 members in its first season has now blossomed to over 100 members, with even more expected to join for the upcoming 2024 season.
One of the key principles of Inspire Cycling is “no slow-shaming,” ensuring that every rider feels comfortable and supported regardless of their pace. The group organizes a variety of rides throughout the season, catering to different interests and abilities. From road rides to mountain bike adventures, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
As the organization continues to expand, Brhely has recruited additional guides to lead rides and provide even more opportunities for members to explore the beautiful cycling routes in the valley. With a diverse range of participants, ranging from 20 to 73 years old, Inspire Cycling truly embodies the spirit of community and connection.
Registration for the 2024 season opened on International Women’s Day, with a nominal fee that goes towards supporting the operational costs of the organization. Those interested in joining are encouraged to visit the Inspire Cycling website for more information and updates throughout the season.
As Brhely aptly puts it, “There’s value to every single participant, whether you’re a seasoned athlete or just enjoy a leisurely ride on the bike path. It’s important to acknowledge and celebrate the diversity within the cycling community.” Inspire Cycling is not just about riding bikes; it’s about building friendships, fostering support, and empowering women to embrace the joy of cycling together.
