Formula 1 Returns to the United States: Miami Grand Prix Preview and Predictions
Formula 1 is back in the United States, with the Miami Grand Prix kicking off a series of races in the country. The first of three races in the US in 2024, the Miami Grand Prix is set to be an exciting event with Max Verstappen as the clear favorite to win.
Verstappen has dominated the Miami races, winning the first two and starting ninth in 2023 on his way to victory. With four wins in the first five races of the season, it’s no surprise that he is heavily favored to win on Sunday.
The race weekend will feature a sprint format, with a sprint race on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET before the Grand Prix qualifying at 4 p.m. This new format allows teams to gather data from the sprint race for the Grand Prix qualifying, adding an extra layer of strategy to the weekend.
Verstappen is the overwhelming favorite to win, with odds of -550 at BetMGM. His Red Bull Racing teammate Sergio Perez follows as the second favorite at +800. The battle for the rest of the field is tight, with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, along with McLaren’s Lando Norris, all at +1600.
One driver to watch is American Logan Sargeant, who has had a tough season so far. The only American driver in the field, Sargeant has struggled to finish higher than 14th and has yet to score a point. With Williams facing challenges, Sargeant will look to improve on his 20th place finish from last year’s Miami Grand Prix.
As the excitement builds for the Miami Grand Prix, all eyes will be on Verstappen as he aims to continue his winning streak and solidify his position as the top driver in Formula 1.
