Clemson Tigers Hold Strong at No. 4 in Coaches Poll After Tough Week
After a tough 2-2 week that included losses to No. 18 Georgia and unranked Louisville, Coach Erik Bakich’s Clemson Tigers have maintained their position in the latest USA TODAY Sports baseball coaches poll. The Tigers, with an overall record of 34-9, are holding strong at No. 4 in the rankings, the same spot they occupied last week.
Despite the losses, Clemson’s performance was enough to keep them in the top five, with Texas A&M, Arkansas, and Tennessee holding onto the top three spots in the poll. East Carolina made a significant jump to No. 5 after a dominant weekend performance in the American Athletic Conference.
The ACC is well-represented in the top 10, with Florida State, Duke, and Virginia joining Clemson in the rankings. In total, the ACC boasts seven teams in the Top 25, showcasing the conference’s strength in college baseball.
The SEC leads all conferences with nine ranked teams, with South Carolina and Mississippi State making notable moves up the rankings after impressive series wins. Oklahoma State also climbed six spots after a successful week on the field.
On the other hand, Vanderbilt and Oklahoma saw significant drops in the rankings after tough outings in their respective series. The Commodores fell five spots to No. 13, while the Sooners dropped to No. 23.
Clemson will look to bounce back from their recent losses as they prepare to take on Georgia Tech in ACC play on Friday at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. With the postseason approaching, the Tigers will be eager to regain their winning momentum and make a push for the top spot in the rankings.
