5th Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament Concludes with Punjab & Sind Bank Emerging as Champions
The 5th Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey tournament came to a thrilling conclusion in Chandigarh on Tuesday, with Punjab and Sind Bank emerging as the champions after a nail-biting penalty shootout against the Indian Air Force.
The tournament, which took place from April 25 to 30, saw a total of 12 teams competing, including teams from the Bangladesh and Sri Lanka Air Force, as well as teams from the Indian Army, Indian Navy, CISF, Punjab Police, and more.
In the final match, Punjab and Sind Bank managed to edge out the Indian Air Force with a score of 12-11 in the penalty shootout. JWO Lovdeep Singh of the Indian Air Force team was declared the Man of the Match, while Rajinder Singh of Punjab and Sind Bank was named the player of the tournament.
The Chief Guest, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, Chief of the Air Staff, praised the playing standards and skill level of all the participating teams. He also felicitated veteran hockey players and presented medals and trophies to the winners and runners-up.
Prominent hockey veterans such as Dronacharya Awardee Dr. AK Bansal and Arjuna Awardees Prabhjot Singh, Rajpal Singh, and Rani Rampal were also honored for their contributions to the sport.
The spectators and teams were treated to a spectacular display by the Indian Air Force’s Air Warrior Drill Team and a breathtaking Para Jump by the Air Devil Team.
