Formula 1 Returns to the United States with Miami Grand Prix
Formula 1 is back in the United States with the highly anticipated Miami Grand Prix set to take place this Sunday. The race marks the first of three events in the United States for the 2024 season, with races in Austin and Las Vegas to follow later in the year. And all eyes are on Max Verstappen, who is the overwhelming favorite to clinch yet another victory.
Verstappen has been on a winning streak, having already secured four wins in the first five races of the season. With his impressive track record in Miami, where he won the first two races and started ninth on his way to victory in 2023, it comes as no surprise that he is the top pick to win on Sunday.
The race weekend in Miami will feature a sprint format, with a slight change in the schedule for 2024. Teams will have one practice session on Friday before qualifying for the sprint race. The sprint race will take place on Saturday at noon ET, followed by Grand Prix qualifying at 4 p.m. This new format allows teams to gather valuable data from the sprint race for Grand Prix qualifying.
In terms of betting odds, Verstappen is the clear favorite at -550 to win, with his Red Bull Racing teammate Sergio Perez coming in as the second favorite at +800. The battle for the best of the rest sees a three-way tie between Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, along with McLaren’s Lando Norris.
As fans gear up for an action-packed weekend in Miami, all eyes are also on the potential departure of Red Bull’s Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey, with rumors swirling about his exit from the team. With so much excitement and anticipation surrounding the Miami Grand Prix, it’s shaping up to be a thrilling race weekend for Formula 1 fans in the United States.
