Young British Golfer Kris Kim Set to Make PGA Tour Debut
Sixteen-year-old British golfer Kris Kim is set to make his PGA Tour debut at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in Texas, competing against some of the best players in the world including former number ones Jordan Spieth, Adam Scott, and Jason Day.
Kim, who hails from Surrey, is considered the outstanding teenage prospect in English men’s golf after winning multiple titles last year, including the Boys’ Amateur title, the European Individual Championship, and the McGregor Trophy. He has already signed sponsorship deals and received a sponsor’s invitation to play at the CJ Cup.
The young golfer, who is the son of former LPGA player Ji-Hyun Suh, expressed his excitement about the opportunity, stating, “It’s what you work towards all the time and it’s an amazing opportunity.” Kim credits his mother for providing valuable advice and guidance as his coach, helping him navigate the challenges of professional competition.
Kim’s dedication to the sport has been evident since his junior days at Cuddington Golf Club, where he would practice relentlessly after school and during holidays. His hard work paid off last year at the junior Ryder Cup in Rome, where he went unbeaten in four matches, showcasing his talent and potential on an international stage.
As Kim prepares to compete on the PGA Tour, he acknowledges the importance of gaining experience and learning from each tournament. With the support of his family, coaches, and sponsors, Kim is ready to take on the challenge and make the most of this opportunity to further his career in golf.
