Rugby League Journalist Paul Kent Involved in Altercation Outside Sydney Restaurant
Rugby league journalist and pundit Paul Kent has once again found himself in the spotlight, this time for an altercation outside a Sydney restaurant. The 54-year-old was captured in a video posted on social media, where he can be seen arguing with a group of men outside Totti’s in Rozelle.
In the video, Kent is heard calling one man a “doghead” before getting into a physical altercation with another man, ending with him being thrown against a tree. The incident has led to Kent being stood down by both Fox Sports and News Corp Australia pending an investigation.
This is not the first time Kent has faced controversy. In 2023, he was stood down from his roles as a co-host on NRL 360 and as a columnist for the Daily Telegraph after allegations of assaulting his ex-girlfriend. He was later charged with common assault and intentionally choking a person without consent, but was found not guilty in December of the same year.
Despite the setbacks, Kent expressed relief at the outcome of the case, stating, “The truth is out there, finally. It’s been a big cost to me, it’s been a big setback in my life. But we’ve all got our struggles in life. This is my one currently, so it’s up to me now to regroup and get back to my normal life.”
Kent returned to television at the beginning of 2024, but this recent incident has once again put his career in jeopardy. With New South Wales police now aware of the altercation, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the controversial journalist.
