Stonegate Group to Open Retro Football-Themed Sports Bar Golaccio in Huddersfield
Stonegate Group is set to bring a taste of Italian football nostalgia to Huddersfield with the opening of Golaccio, a retro football-themed sports bar, on 3 May 2024. The £100,000 refurbishment of the venue, formerly known as Venn St Social, has transformed it into a vibrant and immersive sports experience.
The interior of Golaccio has been revamped to showcase classic football shirts, scarves, and posters from iconic Italian clubs, along with stadium artwork and location posters. To enhance the viewing experience, the sports bar now boasts four new large TV screens and a pull-down projector, perfect for catching all the action from your favorite matches.
In addition to the upgraded viewing facilities, Golaccio will also feature a new darts board for patrons to enjoy. Publican Tim McTigue, the mastermind behind the retro football concept, will be leading the venture and is excited to bring the unique Italian-inspired sports experience to Huddersfield.
McTigue expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “Golaccio is an ode to a 1990s love affair with Italian football, and it’s a huge endorsement that Stonegate believed in the concept to help me bring it to Huddersfield. The Golaccio team is looking forward to welcoming the community and visitors back to the venue. All are welcome!”
This announcement comes on the heels of Stonegate Group’s recent reopening of the Plough pub in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, following a significant refurbishment. With a six-figure investment from Craft Union, the pub now offers a new range of beers, including popular brands like Birra Moretti, Amstel, Peroni, Wingman, and Cruzcampo.
As sports fans eagerly await the opening of Golaccio, it promises to be a must-visit destination for football enthusiasts looking to immerse themselves in the nostalgia of Italian football culture.
