Andover Cricket Club Prepares for Premier Division Clash Against Totton
Andover Cricket Club Shows Promise in Pre-Season Clash
Following an inter-club match a fortnight ago, Nordlock-sponsored Andover Cricket Club made their way to Mays Bounty to take on Basingstoke in a pre-season friendly. The cold and rainy weather did not deter the players as they geared up for the upcoming season.
Captain Johnny Nyumbu led the team with a strong batting performance, with Babu Veettill stealing the show with his explosive innings of 54 runs from just 22 balls, including six sixes. Nyumbu and Glyn Treagus also contributed with scores of 23 and 21 respectively, as Andover posted a competitive total of 196 runs.
In the bowling department, Aidan Jansen shone with three wickets, supported by Veettill, Michael Adams, and Nyumbu. New signing Sachin Sivanandan also made an impact by taking his first wicket for the club.
Despite losing star batsman Richmond Mutumbami to league rivals Totton, Andover have bolstered their squad with exciting young talent like Will Berrill, Alex Corbett, and Sanjeet Garood. The team looks well-rounded with a mix of experience and youth, ready to make a mark in the upcoming season.
Andover’s first league game against Totton promises to be an exciting clash, with both teams looking to start their campaign on a high note. With the pitch in excellent condition and the players in good form, fans can expect a thrilling summer of cricket in the town.
As Andover prepares to face tough competition in the premier division, they are confident in their abilities and hopeful for a successful season ahead. With a strong squad and a positive mindset, the team is ready to take on any challenge that comes their way.
