Miami Grand Prix Organizers Take Action Against Fundraiser for Former President Donald Trump During Race Weekend

The Miami Grand Prix is making headlines not just for the thrilling races, but also for the controversy surrounding a planned fundraiser for former President Donald Trump during Sunday’s event. Race organizers have taken a stand against the fundraiser, sending a cease and desist letter to Steven Witkoff, a prominent GOP fundraiser, who had advertised a trip to the race in a suite that would have been an event for Trump.

In the letter obtained by The Washington Post, race organizers stated that using the Paddock Club Rooftop Suite for a political fundraiser would be a clear violation of the Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami License Agreement Grand Prix suite. They warned Witkoff that his suite license would be revoked, and he would not be allowed to attend the race, with a full refund of the amount paid.

Former President Trump, who now resides in South Florida, has been a longtime supporter of Witkoff, a real estate developer. Trump’s last major auto racing event was in 2020, when he issued the order ahead of the Daytona 500.

The Miami Grand Prix, the first of three Formula 1 races to be held in the United States in 2024, has been a highly anticipated event. With Max Verstappen dominating the season with four wins out of five races, he is the favorite going into Sunday’s race. This year’s race includes a sprint race on Saturday, a new addition to the F1 weekend in Miami, where only points can be earned. Qualifying will follow the sprint race to determine the grid for Sunday’s Grand Prix.

As the excitement builds for the Miami Grand Prix, the controversy surrounding the planned fundraiser for Trump adds an unexpected twist to the event. Fans will be watching closely to see how the situation unfolds as the race weekend approaches.
