High School Baseball Game Goes 23 Innings, Sets Texas Record

In a weekend filled with intense sports action, the baseball teams from Midland High School and Odessa High School made history with an epic showdown that lasted the equivalent of 2.5 games in one marathon match.

The game started on Friday afternoon as part of a three-game series between the two schools. Midland was leading 3-2 in the top of the 14th inning when the game was called due to insufficient lighting at the field. Little did anyone know that this was just the beginning of an unforgettable battle.

The following day, Odessa managed to tie the game, leading to an incredible nine extra innings of play. Finally, in the bottom of the 23rd inning, Midland emerged victorious, securing a win in what would go down in history as the longest high school sporting event in Texas.

After finishing the second game on Saturday, the teams still had to play a full third game. Midland ultimately clinched the series with another win, making it a 2-1 victory overall. Despite the exhaustion and challenges faced, both teams showed incredible resilience and determination throughout the grueling weekend.
