National Women’s Hockey League 2024-2025 Set to Kick Off in Ranchi: Top State Teams to Compete

The National Women’s Hockey League 2024-2025 is all set to kick off in Ranchi, Jharkhand, showcasing the best talent in Indian women’s hockey. The league, which will feature the top eight teams from the 14th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship 2024, aims to provide a platform for emerging athletes and elevate the stature of women’s hockey in the country.

The tournament will unfold in two phases, with the inaugural leg scheduled from April 30 to May 9 at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi. The competition will feature a single pool comprising all eight teams, with each team facing off against the others in a captivating round-robin format.

Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey expressed his excitement for the league, stating that it represents a monumental step forward for women’s hockey in India. He emphasized that the league is not just about competition but also about fostering a culture of inclusivity and empowerment in Indian sports.

The opening day of the tournament promises to be action-packed, with four exciting matchups on the cards. Hockey Haryana will take on the Hockey Association of Odisha, Hockey Maharashtra will face Manipur Hockey, Hockey Madhya Pradesh will clash with Hockey Bengal, and Hockey Jharkhand will square off against Hockey Mizoram.

Hockey enthusiasts and fans across the country can look forward to a thrilling display of talent and teamwork as the top state teams converge in Ranchi for the maiden edition of the National Women’s Hockey League. With 28 league matches set to be played in the first phase of the tournament, there is no shortage of excitement and anticipation surrounding this groundbreaking competition.
