Rowing Ireland Launches “Catch Us If You Can” Initiative Ahead of Paris 2024 Olympics
Rowing Ireland, the governing body for rowing in Ireland, has unveiled an exciting new initiative aimed at engaging schools and clubs across the country in the world of rowing ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The initiative, titled “Catch Us If You Can,” is designed to mirror the rigorous training regimen of Rowing Ireland’s High-Performance athletes while promoting the sport of rowing at the grassroots level.
Participating schools will have the opportunity to compete for a state-of-the-art Concept 2 rowing machine for their institution, serving as both an incentive for participation and a valuable addition to their sports facilities. This prize aims to encourage ongoing engagement with rowing at the grassroots level, fostering a love for the sport that extends far into the future.
“Catch Us If You Can” will feature a series of inspiring videos showcasing the personal experiences and training insights of Rowing Ireland’s High-Performance athletes as they prepare for the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics. These behind-the-scenes glimpses into the dedication and determination required to compete at the highest level of rowing are sure to captivate audiences and inspire future generations of rowers.
The initiative will also extend to Rowing Ireland’s 100 clubs, offering members the chance to “Catch” the HP athletes in their training pursuits leading up to the Olympics. This inclusive approach aims to foster a sense of camaraderie and connection within the rowing community, uniting athletes of all levels in their shared passion for the sport.
With Ireland currently boasting six boats qualified for the Paris Olympics and one boat for the Paralympics, the excitement surrounding rowing in the country is palpable. Following a successful showing at World Cup I in Italy, where Ireland secured two medals, the team is gearing up for the European Championships in Hungary and the Final Qualification Regatta next month.
“Catch Us If You Can” builds upon the success of Rowing Ireland’s existing Get Going…Get Rowing programme, furthering the organisation’s commitment to promoting participation and excellence in rowing across Ireland.
