Thomas Makes Triumphant Comeback on Road to Paris 2024

After a challenging period of injury, Preston star Thomas made a triumphant return to the rowing scene with a sensational victory at December’s Olympic Trials in Caversham. The road to recovery continued in Varese, Italy, where he secured a silver medal in the first World Cup regatta of the season, proving that Paris 2024 is well within his reach.

Reflecting on his journey, Thomas shared, “There were definitely moments where I thought it was curtains for me, but here I am, back in the game.” With the support of his teammates, Thomas competed in the quadruple sculls event alongside Callum Dixon, Tom Barras, and Matthew Haywood, narrowly missing out on gold to the reigning Olympic champions from the Netherlands.

As the race for Olympic selection heats up, Thomas remains focused on the present, aiming to improve on last year’s fourth-placed finish at the European Championships in Szeged. With his sights set on Paris 2024, Thomas is determined to continue pushing himself and his crew to new heights.

Looking ahead, Thomas emphasized the importance of sticking to good processes and letting the outcomes take care of themselves. As he strives for a third Olympic appearance, Thomas remains grateful for the opportunity to compete at the highest level and is determined to make the most of every moment on the water.

With the support of British Rowing and the National Lottery Sports Fund, Thomas is well-positioned to continue his pursuit of Olympic glory. As the team prepares for the upcoming challenges, Thomas is ready to give his all and showcase his resilience and determination on the world stage.
