Demi Vollering Signs Personal Sponsorship Deal with Nike
In a groundbreaking move for women’s cycling, Dutch rider Demi Vollering has signed a personal sponsorship deal with sportswear giant Nike. Vollering joins the likes of Mark Cavendish, Letizia Paternoster, and Cameron Wurf as athletes who have similar agreements with the US-based brand.
Despite Nike not currently producing cycling products, Vollering, who is under contract with SD Worx-Protime until 2025, could potentially switch to Nike gear if a move to FDJ-Suez is confirmed. The talented rider, who won the 2023 Tour de France Femmes and has been dominating the Classics, is rumored to be on track to become the first female rider to earn a million euros per season.
Vollering expressed her excitement about the partnership, stating that Nike will help her pursue her dreams and goals for the coming years. In an Instagram post announcing the deal, she emphasized the importance of her role in women’s cycling and sports in general, highlighting the opportunities it presents for inspiring others.
The announcement was accompanied by a photo of Vollering signing the deal while wearing a Michael Jordan jacket, with a tag to the Nike Women Instagram account. She also took the time to thank her supporters and partners, including her agent and partner Jan de Voogd.
While Vollering has yet to secure a victory in 2024, she is currently competing in the Vuelta España Femenina with SD Worx-Protime. Fans can look forward to seeing her defend her yellow jersey at the Tour de France Femmes in August, while teammate Lotte Kopecky focuses on the Giro d’Italia Women and track events at the Paris Olympics. With Nike by her side, Vollering is poised to continue making waves in the world of cycling.
