Over the past few weeks, Midrand Montessori High School has been buzzing with excitement and activity, all thanks to the remarkable achievements of its talented learners. One of the standout events during this time was the school’s highly anticipated Inter-high Athletics Sports Day, which took place on March 15.
The event was nothing short of extraordinary, with several long-standing records being shattered by Midrand Montessori’s exceptional athletes. Among the record-breakers were Amukelani Mokgope, Njume Kraai, and Oreneile Machete, who all delivered outstanding performances that left the crowd in awe.
Amukelani, who had previously set a high jump record in the U15 boys category, outdid himself by surpassing his own record and setting a new school record in the process. Meanwhile, Njume showcased unwavering dedication and effort throughout the season, culminating in a triumphant victory on the big day and setting a new school record in the U15 boys’ shot put category – a record previously held by Amukelani himself.
In the U15 girls’ shot put category, Oreneile Machete demonstrated remarkable strength and determination, emerging victorious and setting a new school record previously held by Lyra de Jong. The school’s principal, Sin Jackson-Morkel, was quick to extend her heartfelt congratulations to the learners for their exceptional accomplishments.
