Alabama Adds Top-35 Recruit Labron Philon to Loaded Recruiting Class
The Alabama Crimson Tide basketball program continues to make waves in the recruiting world, as they have added another top prospect to their already stacked 2024 class. Labron Philon, a highly-ranked 4-star point guard, has committed to play for head coach Nate Oats in Tuscaloosa.
Philon, ranked No. 33 overall in the 2024 class by 247Sports, is a local product from Mobile, Alabama. After spending his junior season at Baker High School, he transferred to Link Academy in Missouri for his senior year. Despite originally committing to Auburn, Philon had a change of heart following a coaching change and ultimately decided to join the Crimson Tide.
The addition of Philon only adds to the impressive recruiting haul for Alabama, which already includes McDonald’s All-Americans Derrion Reid and Aiden Sherrell, as well as top-50 recruit Naas Cunningham. With a talented group of newcomers set to join the team, the Crimson Tide are poised for success in the upcoming season.
Philon’s arrival also provides depth to the guard position for Alabama, joining a roster that features returning players like Latrell Wrightsell and incoming transfers Chris Youngblood and Houston Mallette. The team is still awaiting a decision from Mark Sears regarding the NBA Draft, which could impact Philon’s role in his first season with the program.
With just one roster spot remaining, Oats and his staff are looking to add a center through the transfer portal to complete their offseason additions. Fans can stay up to date on the latest roster moves by checking out BamaCentral’s 2024-25 Alabama basketball roster tracker.
