Nethra Kumanan Excited to Represent India Again at Paris Olympics
Nethra Kumanan, the talented Indian sailor, has once again made her country proud by securing India’s second Paris Olympics quota in sailing. The achievement came on April 26 at the Last Chance Regatta in Hyeres, France, where Nethra competed in the women’s dinghy (ILCA 6) category.
Having previously participated in the Tokyo Games three years ago, Nethra’s hard work and dedication paid off as she finished fifth on the overall leaderboard with 67 net points. Despite not finishing in the top three, Nethra secured the Olympic quota as the top performer among sailors from the Emerging Nations Program (ENP) who had not yet obtained a quota.
In a statement to the media, Nethra expressed her excitement at the prospect of representing India once again on the international stage. She mentioned, “I have been trying to work very hard since the last Olympics to improve as much as possible and work as hard as I can to qualify again this year. It’s a real feeling and I’m very excited to represent India again.”
The Last Chance Regatta serves as the final qualifying event in sailing for the Paris 2024 Olympics, and Nethra’s achievement is a testament to her skill and determination. With her sights set on the upcoming Olympics, Nethra is poised to make a significant impact and showcase her talent on the world stage.
As Nethra continues to make waves in the sailing world, her success serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes and a source of pride for the nation. India eagerly anticipates her performance at the Paris Olympics as she aims to bring home glory and make her mark in the sport.
