Jadumani Singh and Akash Gorkha Advance to Quarterfinals in ASBC Asian U22 and Youth Boxing Championships 2024

Jadumani Singh Emerges Victorious in ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships 2024, Enters Quarter-finals – Celebrates Win (Photo- BFI)

Indian boxers Mandengbam Jadumani Singh and Akash Gorkha showcased their skills and determination on day two of the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships 2024 in Astana, Kazakhstan. Jadumani Singh secured a victory in the 51kg category by defeating Aldarkhishig Battulga of Mongolia with an RSC decision in round two. On the other hand, Akash Gorkha faced a tough challenge against Mongolia’s Ganbaatar Gan Erdene but managed to make a remarkable comeback after losing the first round, ultimately winning the bout 4-1.

Both boxers have now advanced to the U-22 quarter-finals, scheduled to take place on Tuesday. The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) confirmed that Ajay Kumar and Ankush will also begin their campaign in the U-22 category later in the day.

In addition to Jadumani Singh and Akash Gorkha’s victories, Jatin, Sagar Jakhar, and Yashwardhan Singh also progressed to the next round on Saturday. Jatin and Yashwardhan secured identical 5-0 wins in their bouts, while Sagar received a walkover from his opponent Leong Brandon of Singapore.

The ongoing tournament has seen a total of 50 Indian boxers competing against 390-plus boxers from over 24 countries across 25 weight categories. The finals for the youth and U-22 categories are scheduled to take place on May 6 and 7, respectively.

The high-voltage action and intense competition at the championships have kept fans on the edge of their seats, with Indian boxers showcasing their talent and determination on the global stage. Stay tuned for more updates as the competition heats up in Astana, Kazakhstan.
