Hawaii Baseball Team Sweeps UC San Diego, Keeps Season Alive

The Hawaii baseball team is not ready to call it quits just yet. Despite the odds stacked against them in the conference championship race, the Rainbow Warriors showed their resilience by clawing their way back to .500 in the Big West with a dominating 15-10 victory over UC San Diego on Sunday.

In a weekend sweep in La Jolla, Calif., UH displayed their offensive prowess with a total of 15 hits, including home runs from Kyson Donahue and Sean Rimmer. Donahue’s three-run shot in the third inning marked his second homer in as many days, solidifying his status as a key contributor to the team’s success.

The Rainbow Warriors built an impressive nine-run lead in the fourth inning, thanks in part to a bases-loaded hit by Naighel Ali‘i Calderon and a double by Donahue. Despite UCSD’s late surge with nine runs in the final four innings, UH maintained their lead to secure the victory.

Pitcher Harrison Bodendorf and reliever Itsuki Takemoto played crucial roles in the team’s success, while hitters like Jake Tsukada and Dallas Duarte contributed with key RBIs. The Tritons put up a fight, but ultimately fell short against a determined UH squad.

As the season winds down, the Rainbow Warriors are gearing up for their next challenge against Hawaii Hilo in a midweek matchup. With momentum on their side, UH looks to continue their winning ways and finish the season strong.
