Hannah Green defends LPGA LA Championship title with sensational final round performance
Hannah Green has once again proven her dominance on the LPGA Tour with a sensational final round performance to defend her LA Championship title and secure a hefty $860,000 payday.
Starting the day tied for the lead with her friend Grace Kim at seven-under, Green showed nerves of steel as she navigated the challenging Wilshire Country Club course. A birdie on the first hole set the tone for her round, but a bogey on the fourth briefly halted her momentum.
However, Green quickly regained her composure and went on a tear in the back nine, carding birdies on 12 and 13, followed by an eagle on 15 and another birdie on 16. Her flawless play and a series of sensational par saves resulted in a five-under 66 for the day, finishing at 12-under overall and clinching the title by three shots over Maja Stark.
While Green soared to victory, her playing partner Grace Kim struggled to keep pace, finishing in a tie for 25th after a disappointing 77. Despite the tough day on the course, Kim was all smiles as she celebrated Green’s win, showering her friend in champagne in a show of camaraderie.
Green’s triumph marks her fifth LPGA Tour win and second of the season, solidifying her status as one of the tour’s top players. With this victory, Green also virtually secures her spot in the upcoming Olympic Games, adding another milestone to her already impressive career.
Reflecting on her performance, Green expressed her love for the course and her satisfaction with her play, noting key moments that sealed her victory. With her unwavering determination and skill on display, Green has once again proven why she is a force to be reckoned with in women’s golf.
